“We play for you, Valencia”
Cristhian Mosquera, Javi Guerra and Diego López will compete with Spain's Under-21 side
At just 17 years and 9 months of age, Yunus Musah entered into the Top 10 list for youngest debutants for Valencia CF with his appearance against Levante UD.
The midfielder, who had already made an unofficial appearance in preseason for the club against CD Castellón, was played on the right wing, although he would make several switches with Gonçalo Guedes on the opposite flank.
"I've very pleased to have debuted for Valencia CF, and above all to have debuted in LaLiga with a good team. I want to thank everybody for helping me along the way; I hope to continue like this and improve every day," he told VCF Media.
"I just wanted to enjoy it. The coach told me to enjoy myself, work hard and do what I know. It was a very good experience and I enjoyed it a lot. I was also lucky enough to be on the winning side."
Perhaps the biggest display of his potential came at the start of the second half, when he sent a spectacular shot against the crossbar off a counterattack launched by Guedes. He would also help tracking back to assist Daniel Wass on the right of the defence, showing his impressive fitness and energy.
Musah was subbed off in the 87th minute and received congratulations from the coaching staff and his teammates, having reached a milestone for the club and for himself. The Englishman was one of the standout performers on Matchday 1.
"I was told that I was starting before the game, in the hotel. I was very happy when they told me. I couldn't stop smiling. I called my parents afterwards.
I spoke with them to thank them, and I want to thank everybody who has helped me to have this moment. I wanted to enjoy it. It's only one game. I want to continue this way and I'm going to work and work. I want to get better every day."
